Experience 1,100 years of Britain’s history in just 1 day at one of England’s finest medieval fortresses. This is the closest thing to a Castle theme park in the UK, and the whole family is going to enjoy it!
Spectacular live stunt shows and attractions, spellbinding storytelling and exhilarating experiences all year-round make it one of the most exciting visitor attractions in Europe. There is history here too, as well as ramparts and towers to explore there are grand state rooms and guided tours.
There’s a Horrible Histories Maze, there are friendly characters in costume roaming the Castle, and if you are brave enough there is the Castle Dungeon to visit!
Spanning more than 900 years of history, Tamworth Castle presents the living rooms, chambers and corridors that played host to Saxons, Normans, Tudors and even Victorians – a real journey through time. You can explore 15 different rooms – along with the courtyard and other hidden gems – each offering something different, giving a glimpse into the Castle’s past and how it has changed over the centuries.
There are also the Castle Ground to enjoy with an adventure play area (Castle themed of course!) and also Bike hire, crazy golf, skate park and even outdoor gym equipment.
Originally built in 1067 – a year after William the Conqueror handed the land to a Norman baron – the castle was left in ruins and rebuilt several times, before the impressive structure that stands today was finished in 1832. If you imagine your ideal fairy tale castle in your mind, I bet it’ll not be far off Belvoir!
One of Leicestershire’s finest buildings, this is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Rutland who have lived at Belvoir in an unbroken line for almost a thousand years.
