University of Leicester Botanic Gardens

The University of Leicester Botanic Garden features alpine, desert, temperate and tropical greenhouses and are delightful gardens at any time of year. You can also visit the Attenborough Arboretum, which focuses on global biodiversity and is managed as a ‘wild’ site.

Whatton Gardens

This is a stunning 15 acre site composing mixed woodland and gardens beautifully landscaped and with an Arboretum and Rose Garden to explore. It is a delightfully peaceful place with something to admire at all times of year with extensive views towards Charnwood Forest, a working kitchen garden and walks through the shaded woodland, shrubs and trees.

Bradgate Park

Nature lovers will revel in the beautiful landscapes and woodland scenery at Bradgate Park; one of Leicestershire’s most picturesque spots, covering 830 acres. The Park is a medieval deer park, once popular as a hunting ground; and the red and fallow deer still reside here, mostly concealed within the thick bracken, though if you’re lucky, you might just spot one or two

Fosse Meadows Ramble

A 4 mile figure of 8 walk around the Fosse Meadows Nature Area. This would be a very plesant evening stoll through the stunning countryside before a return to the hotel for a well earned refreshment in the bar before dinner!

Hartshill Hayes & Coventry Canal Ramble

This is a more ambitious circular 13.4 miles, likely to take 6-7 hours. This is Walk 20 of a series of routes along Warwickshire’s Centenary Way. From Hartshill Hayes country park, with its amazing views, the walk heads down to the Coventry canal. After a short urban stretch the return is along pleasant field paths.
